Who I am Makes A Difference

A teacher in New York decided to honor each of her seniors in High School by telling them the difference each of them had made. She called each students to the front of the class, one at a time. First, she told each of them how they had made a difference to her and, the class. Then she presented each of them with a blue ribbon, imprinted with gold letters, which reads,  "Who I am Makes A Difference."

Afterward the teacher decided to do a class project, to see what kind of impact recognition would have on a Community. She gave each students three more blue ribbons, and instructed them to go out and spread this acknowledgment ceremony. Then they were to follow up on the results, see who honored whom, and report to the class in about a week.

Don't Be Sad

This is a really interesting pieces from a book that I found on one of my friends.
And it's such a waste not to share it to everyone out here. If you want to get rid of sadness and misery then read '4 things' below.

4 things weaken the body:
  • Talking too much
  • Sleeping too much
  • Eating too much
  • Engaging in sexual intercourse too frequently

4 things destroy the body:
  • Anxiety
  • Grief
  • Hunger
  • Sleeplessness

4 things bring serenity to the heart:
  • To look at greenery
  • To look at flowing water
  • To see a loved one
  • To gaze fruits upon the trees

4 things weaken one’s eyesight:
  • Walking barefoot,
  • Having a frown on one’s face early in the morning and before going to sleep
  • Crying frequently
  • And reading words in small print.

4 things strengthen the body:
  • Wearing soft clothing,
  • Taking a shower using water of a moderate temperature,
  • Eating sweet and rich foods
  • And smelling pleasant odors

4 things take the joy and freshness out of one’s face:
    • Lying,
    • Insolence (disrespect, boldness)
    • Asking too many questions imprudently
    • And perpetrating evil deeds frequently

4 things bring light and happiness to one’s face:
    • A sense of honour,
    • Fulfilling one’s commitments
    • Generosity
    • Piety

4 things make others detest and loathe you:
    • Arrogance
    • Jealousy
    • Lying
    • And spreading false rumors about others

4 things make sustenance come to you freely:
    • Standing up at night to pray
    • Making repentance late in the night
    • Giving charity habitually
    • And remembering your Creator in the first and last part of the day

4 things prevent sustenance from coming to you:
    • Sleeping in the morning
    • Not praying frequently
    • Laziness
    • And treachery (dishonesty)

4 things weaken one’s mind and understanding:
    • Constantly eating our sour foods and fruit
    • Sleeping on one’s back
    • Worrying
    • And feeling anxious

4 things help one to improve one’s understanding:
    • Having a light heart
    • Not overfilling oneself with food and drink
    • Adding sweet and rich foods in moderation to one’s diet
    • And getting rid of extra body fat

NOTE: Extracted from the book 'Don’t be Sad' by Aidth ibn Abdullah al-Qarni. Though the book discussed mainly about attaining happiness in an Islamic point of view, I, in the other hand comprehend my views that the book could easily be applied to all system of belief.

    A Little Princess

Everybody loves to be a princess. We crave to be one (err... are you?). Even I do. I still remember back then when I was in my college days, I used to be called a 'Princess' by a friend. I really felt like a real princess only that I doesn't live in a castle.
There's only one thing that inspired me to be a 'princess' and i.e a film by Alfonso CuarĂ³n based upon the novel, A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

The novel with over hundreds of cover versions

I've never actually read the book yet but I watched the film when I was little.
And I've been the biggest critic over many films I watched and yet A Little Princess failed to open my mouth. The film is just brilliant in order. Funny, sweet, sad, and every little thing you could imagine of being a princesses.

The film... Sara and Becky at the attic together

Becky: Sara… why don’t you tell your stories anymore?
Sara Crewe: They’re just make-believe. They don’t mean anything.
Becky: Oh, but they’ve always meant something to me. There were days I thought I would die, until I heard you talk about the magic.
Sara Crewe: There is no magic, Becky

    Hugs
